All the houses are deck out in fairy lights, there is a warm environment all around, and the aromatic smell of delicacies – Diwali is just around the corner! This festival of lights brings happiness and joy to people’s faces and is one of the biggest and most important Hindu festivals. The festival signifies the victory of light over darkness. Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, happiness and luxury and Lord Ganesha is know as the remover of obstacles, therefore on Diwali night Lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi are worship to bring prosperity to their abode. Puja Preparation of Diwali 2022
It is say that Goddess Laxmi marks her presence in an abode that is clean and pure, so it is extremely important to thoroughly clean every part of your home before the puja. Pay attention to every nook and cranny and throw out the junk along with the beautiful decorations. Once the cleaning is done, purify your home by sprinkling the holy water of the Ganges.
Pooja space setup
In or near your puja room, build a raised area on which to place the idols and perform the puja. A red soiled cloth should be spread on the platform and a handful of grains should be spread on it.
Kalash sthapna
Take a silver or copper Kalash and fill it more than halfway with water and put pieces of things in it including supari (betel nut), marigold flower and a coin while placing a coconut on top of the Kalash. Now surround it with mango leaves and place it in the middle of the grains.
Place idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha
Now place the idol of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on the pooja surface and draw a lotus flower with Haldi on the thali, add some coins to the same thali and place it right in front of the idol. Take any trade or other wealth-related items and place them there.
Light diyas and place garlands
Apply tilak on idols and family members along with Kalash before starting pooja or reciting any mantra. Now place the garlands on the idols and cover them with flower petals. Burn the Agarbatti before you start!
Recite the Puja Mantra
Keep a few flower petals in your hand and recite the Diwali puja mantra. Once the mantras are over, shower the idols with flowers in your palm.
Pay offers
Offerings are made first to Lord Ganesha and usually include laddoos, nuts, dry fruits, coconut, batasha and sweet foods.
To Lakshmi Aarti
Take a thali and put a Diya in it and perform Lakshmi pooja accompanied by an aarti song. After completion, flowers are offer to the goddess with offerings of sweets. Distribute Prasad to all the family members.
